- Berry availability can change daily depending on weather and picking conditions
- Cash only — no credit or debit cards accepted at the fields
- ATM available in the u-pick fields
- You’re welcome to bring your own containers
- Containers are also available for purchase on-site
- Picking is first come, first served and depends on crop availability
- Although we love our pets, to adhere to food safety guidelines and to provide a safe environment for all of our guests, please leave your pets at home. No Pets Allowed.

About Our Strawberries
Our Rush location offers 10-15 acres of well-maintained strawberry fields, giving plenty of space to spread out, explore, and enjoy the full pick-your-own experience.
We grow a delicious variety of strawberries throughout the season, including favorites like Wendy, Earliglow, Flavorfest, Clancy, Cabot, Galleta, and Yambu.
Strawberries are perfect for more than just fresh eating. They’re also great for:
- Baking (pies, shortcakes, cobblers)
- Smoothies and fruit salads
- Homemade freezer jam and preserves
- Freezing for later use
Fresh-picked strawberries taste even better when they become part of your family’s favorite summer traditions.
Tips for Picking, Storing & Freezing
Strawberry Picking Tips
Good berries at home start with proper picking.
- Pick only bright red fruit. Berries do not become sweeter after they are picked.
- Pick all sizes, large and small (the smaller ones are usually sweeter with less water content).
- Keep stems on when picking to help maintain freshness and flavor. Handle berries gently, they are very perishable.
- Place flag where you finish picking, thus eliminating picking the same area twice.
- Have fun while picking, and enjoy the country atmosphere.
Storage Tips
Here are some suggestions to ensure good berries at home:
- Strawberries are delicate -handle with care. Do not leave berries in a hot car.
- Store the sorted, unwashed berries in the refrigerator, preferably in a shallow dish covered with waxed paper or plastic wrap.
- For best quality use as soon as possible. Store no longer than 2 days.
- When ready to use, wash and sort berries before removing caps. Removing caps before storing
will reduce flavor, texture and nutrient quality. - Freeze as quickly as possible. Berries may be frozen whole, sliced or crushed. Jams and jellies may be prepared later using the frozen berries.
Freezing Strawberries
Whole
- Wash berries and drain well on paper towels.
- Place in freezer on a cookie sheet only one layer at a time. Leave stems on if using as a garnish.
- After they are frozen, place these berries In freezer bags and seal.
Slices with Sugar
- Wash berries then remove stems.
- Slice or crush berries.
- Add 3/4 cup sugar to 5 cups strawberries.
- Stir mixture until sugar dissolves.
- Pack into freezer containers.

George and Brenda have helped make Gro-Moore Farms a place where summer traditions begin. While the Moore family has been farming in the Henrietta and Rush, New York area since 1917, George and his brother Jack proudly carry on that third-generation family legacy with a focus on fresh berries, hard work, and welcoming families back season after season.
Along with their son Tom, George and Brenda manage the farm and our pick-your-own strawberry fields in Rush. Since opening the strawberry fields for pick-your-own in 1977, the Moore family has watched generations of families return each spring to fill baskets with fresh strawberries and make new memories together in the fields.
With four children and eight grandchildren, family has always been at the heart of what we do. We are grateful for the many visitors who have supported Gro-Moore Farms over the years and helped make the strawberry fields part of their own family traditions.
